The Journey to Ancestors Cove
My family research began over twenty years ago when asked a pivotal question; what is your hobby? I got choked up, realizing I didn't have one. As a Registered Nurse, Mom, and wife, my focus centered around taking care of others. That's when I decided I needed a hobby, but what? Curious about my ancestry, I started researching, got hooked, and the rest is history (or should I say family history).
Like many others, I look back and wish I had asked close family members about our family history before it was too late, but I never did. On the bright side, starting from scratch has given me the solid foundation of research experience that I have today, including the challenge of proving a 200-year lineage over several generations to a new patriot to become a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.
Over the years, my research has resulted in exciting discoveries and a few new-found relatives for the numerous people I have provided research for and for myself. Driven by persistence and passion, these long-lost ancestors now have names and stories that can be told, treasured, and passed on.
My research expertise includes vital records, property, probate, church, federal, and state census records across New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. I also have extensive military research experience in the American Revolution, Civil War, WWI, and WWII across the mid-Atlantic region.
I hold a Certificate in Genealogical Research from Boston University and have completed ProGen Study Group (#44). I currently serve as the Vice-President of the New Jersey Chapter of the Association for Professional Genealogists (NJ-APG) and as President and founding member of the Historical Society of South Amboy (NJ). My current professional memberships include the Daughters of the American Revolution, Association of Professional Genealogists, Central Jersey Genealogical Club, Genealogical Society of New Jersey, National Genealogy Society, New York Genealogical & Biographical Society, and the Maryland Historical Society.
Academic Degrees: BSN (Nursing), MSJ (Master of Science in Jurisprudence/Seton Hall Law School)
My business skills include strategic planning, organizational excellence, and extensive project management expertise with extensive corporate management experience. I hold a certification in Quality Management/Organizational Excellence (CQM) from the American Society of Quality and a Black Belt certification in Lean Six-Sigma from Purdue University.
My collective experience comes with a commitment to a reasonably exhaustive search. Like ancestors, each research request is unique, and no one can guarantee results. However, I will promise a diligent and comprehensive investigation with a summary of the efforts made along the way. All services provided are in accordance with the Association of Professional Genealogists Code of Ethics, the Standards recommended by the National Genealogical Society, and the Code of Ethics adopted by the Board for Certification of Genealogists.
